Center-Based ABA Therapy in Des Moines
Children thrive in structured environments where they feel supported and encouraged to develop new skills. Center-based ABA therapy provides an engaging setting where children can improve communication, build confidence, and strengthen social skills in a fun and interactive way.
With guidance from experienced ABA therapists, children participate in hands-on learning experiences tailored to their needs. Through a combination of one-on-one instruction and small-group activities at our center in Des Moines, they gain the skills necessary for greater independence.

Center-Based Behavior Therapy Benefits
ABA therapy is widely recognized for its effectiveness in supporting children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental conditions. Some key benefits include:
Peer Interaction
Engaging with peers in a guided environment helps children develop confidence and practice essential social skills. Through structured activities, they learn to initiate conversations, take turns, and build meaningful friendships.
Expert Support
A dedicated team of BCBAs, RBTs, and specialists work together to assess and refine therapy plans based on each child's progress. This collaborative approach ensures that treatment is continuously adapted to meet evolving developmental needs.
School Readiness
Structured therapy sessions help children prepare for classroom settings by introducing group activities, following routines, and building academic skills. These experiences make the transition to school smoother by familiarizing children with expected behaviors and structured learning.
Specialized Learning Spaces
Therapy centers are equipped with resources designed to support each child's unique learning needs, including sensory tools and interactive materials. These specialized spaces create an engaging environment that minimizes distractions and maximizes developmental progress.
How We Address Problem Behavior
At Step Up ABA, we help address problem behavior in a variety of ways. First we work to teach underlying skills that may be leading to problem behaviors. For instance, if a child is struggling to communicate they may engage in problem behaviors to have their needs met. We believe the best approach is to teach alternative replacement behaviors first such as communication skills. Additionally, we may conduct a functional assessment of problem behavior that helps us identify the reason for the child's maladaptive behavior. This helps us develop an intervention that can best meet your child's needs.
